I have chosen to write a paragraph on this question:
How have digital technologies shaped the ways in which videogames are produced and distributed? Make reference to the Assassin's Creed franchise
I am going to talk about:
- Production: digital technologies, social media like youtube allows producers to showcase multiple trailers. In recent years, these have become influenced by
- Distribution:
Definition: Digital technologies are electronic ways of producing video games and distributing them
Argument: They have made everything more standardised, and there is little differentiation between different things and this is because it reduces risk.
Context: For example, the narrative
My answer:
Digital technologies are electronic resources which have influenced the ways in which video games are produced and distributed to a mass audience. A digital technology, like the internet, has created a widely accessible platform for users worldwide to be exposed to multiple products, such as video games. The producers of these video games can similarly monitor online activity, in order to evaluate worldwide trends and tailor their products to meet the demands of their consumers. This has shaped video game production into a much more standardised process, as many franchises, alike Assassin's Creed, release video games which the audience are guaranteed to like, opposed to taking risks. For example, with the rise in popularity of movie trailers, Assassin's Creed also released game trailers which mimic movie-trailer conventions and narratives. This allowed them to appeal to a mass audience, whilst also having to manipulate their production values, to limit the amount of risk.
